Bag by Bag

Church Community: Bowen Brossia

Today was pancakes for breakfast and it was an awesome start to the day. After breakfast we went to a food pantry and put medical and cleaning stuff in bags for homeless people. We had a pretty good strategy going with an assembly line. People would put things in bag and set them on pallets. We got around 250 bags filled with the medical and cleaning supplies. After that Ignite youth group had to leave for another site and our church was left to work. So we filled more bags with food such as onions, apples, and potatoes. We got another 150 to 200 bags filled. Since it was super hot outside I liked working in the gigantic house cooler stacking up the food bags to keep the bags fresh. We went to a gas station for lunch and got pizza for lunch. Then we went to a thrift store to load up garbage in a dumpster. Shelia and Brenda, 2 volunteers there, really appreciated our work. To end the day we floated on tubes down the river in Pikeville for a couple of hours. It was really cool seeing God's creation and peacefulness while floating down the river. Overall it was a such a great trip and I'm glad I came.
