Weekend Series: Transforming a Nation

DreamTeam Writer: Kelly Pagel

Sunday, July 14, 2024

This week, we continue our series, Transforming a Nation. We have been reading the book of Titus which shares a lot of information on how to live out the Gospel. Paul instructs Titus how to build up the believers on the island of Crete and reminds us that our influence has more potential than we realize.

He points out how this influence begins in the home.

Titus 1:6-7
6An elder must live a blameless life. He must be faithful to his wife, and his children must be believers who don’t have a reputation for being wild or rebellious. 7A church leader is a manager of God’s household, so he must live a blameless life.

We all have the opportunity to lead in our homes - with our spouses, children, parents or even roommates. It begins with those whom we are closest with and then extends out from there.

This week, invite God to open your eyes to the places where you have influence. As him, to show you how you can become a leader within your home. Consider recording your responses in a journal, whether digital or hard copy. It's a great way to be able to look back on the adventure God has you on.

If you want to dive deeper, join us for the Titus Reading Plan by texting Titus to 419-419-0707.

Prayer:
Father, thank you for this reminder, that setting a Christ-like example begins in our home - with those whom we are closest with. This week help me glorify you in all the small moments with my family and friends. Help me be a light to others and demonstrate your abounding love.

Discussion Questions:

Icebreaker: What is your favorite sports team and why?

Why are people prone to wanting big results when they begin something, instead of being satisfied with small accomplishments?

Read Titus 1:6-8. What do you learn about the attributes important for a leader?

Where are some places you can have influence? Which one do you want to focus on?

What would it look like to provide positive Christian influence in this place? What is one step you can take toward that?

Series Theme Verse:

Titus 2:14
“He [Jesus] gave his life to free us from every kind of sin, to cleanse us, and to make us his very own people, totally committed to doing good deeds.”
