Weekend Series: Are We There Yet

DreamTeam Writer: Kelly Pagel

Sunday, January 12, 2025

There you are: driving down a winding road, not quite knowing where you’re going. As you complete each turn, you think, “I must be getting close,” only to look and see your destination is still nowhere in sight.

It’s the age-old childhood question, “Are we there yet?”

It's not only during road trips that we wonder this but also as we work toward our goals in life. And if we constantly focus on the future without celebrating all that God is doing in our lives right now, we can be left feeling frustrated, discouraged, and possibly exhausted.

Just as Joshua stacked the twelve stones to commemorate God’s leading them into the Promised Land, we too need to celebrate our successes.

Joshua 4:19-20
19 The people crossed the Jordan on the tenth day of the first month. Then they camped at Gilgal, just east of Jericho. 20 It was there at Gilgal that Joshua piled up the twelve stones taken from the Jordan River.

Set aside time to seek God and be in his presence. Listen to what God is saying to you today, and consider where you can celebrate progress for all he has done. Then respond to the following questions and reflect on how you can take a step or two forward to deepen your connection with him.

Discussion Questions:

Ice breaker: Do you consider yourself a competitive person? Why or why not?

Why do people get so caught up on perfection that they miss the progress they are making?

Read Philippians 2:12-13. What is God saying to you in this verse today?

Is God inviting you to trust him in an area of your life that you are trying to handle on your own? What would it look like to do that?

What is one step you can take toward trusting him?

21 Days of Prayer

Day 7—Worship

Prayer Focus: To Worship God’s Great Name (Proverbs 18:10)

Prayer:
God, I am in awe of you. Your name is a strong tower, a place of protection and safety for me. I praise you as my healer, my shepherd, and my hope. You are my peace, my provider, my righteousness, and my joy. Your name is great, and I worship you. Amen.

Series Theme Verse:

Romans 12:2
Don't copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God's will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
