Weekend Series: Are We There Yet?

DreamTeam Writer: Kelly Pagel

Sunday, January 19, 2025

Think of a time when you were experiencing change. Perhaps it was a new job, a new puppy, or moving out on your own for the first time. It was probably filled with excitement and anticipation, until reality set in. And then … it was a whole lot harder than you expected.

It's at this point that we can find ourselves getting stressed out and wondering, “Are we there yet?”

However, instead of digging in and doubling down, these are the seasons when God—if we allow him to—can transform us into the people he plans for us to become.

Romans 12:2
Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.

But to do that effectively, we need to spend some time with the Lord, trusting in his plan. As we mark the season that is ending, he will equip us to step into the new adventure he has placed before us.

Set aside time to seek God and be in his presence. Listen to what he is saying to you today. Consider where he might be asking you to mark an ending and step into a new beginning. Then respond to the following questions and reflect on how you can take a step or two forward to deepen your connection with him.

Discussion Questions:
Ice breaker: Share a “new beginning” that initially made you want to turn back, but ultimately, turned out great.

Why is moving forward into new beginnings so challenging?

Read Joshua 1:9. How are you challenged by this verse? How does it encourage you as you step into new beginnings?

How is God transforming you? What is he asking you to mark as an ending? How can you do that?

What new beginning is God asking you to step into? What is one thing you can do to live out Joshua 1:9?

21 Days of Prayer
Day 14—Worship

Today’s Prayer Focus: To Worship Him  (John 4:23)

Today’s Prayer:
Dear Father, I worship you with all my heart and soul. I want to sing your praises from early in the morning, when the sun rises, until late at night, when the day has passed. I am so grateful to be allowed to be your child as your love fills my heart again today. Amen.

Series Theme Verse:
Romans 12:2
Don't copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God's will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
