New Testament Reading Plan: John 10
Where has God helped you move forward?
Celebrating progress instead of constantly striving for arrival offers incredible freedom as well as the opportunity to praise God for his faithfulness.
Joshua 4:19-22
19 The people crossed the Jordan on the tenth day of the first month. Then they camped at Gilgal, just east of Jericho. 20 It was there at Gilgal that Joshua piled up the twelve stones taken from the Jordan River.
21 Then Joshua said to the Israelites, “In the future your children will ask, ‘What do these stones mean?’ 22 Then you can tell them, ‘This is where the Israelites crossed the Jordan on dry ground.’
In the verses above, we see how Joshua took time to mark a moment after a significant event. It was something to come back to and reflect on. And it served as a reminder of how God had walked alongside the Israelites.
He does the same for you and me.
Today, think of three ways you have grown in your faith in the last six months. How have you seen God at work in your life?
Then think of something tangible you can place in a spot you frequent—the kitchen sink or your favorite chair—as a reminder. Maybe a pretty rock reminds you of the strength you felt from God while navigating a difficult time. Or perhaps a certain lock screen image on your phone brings to mind Christ’s sacrifice for you. Whatever you choose, allow this to be a reminder of God’s incredible love and faithfulness on this adventure he has you on.
21 Days of Prayer
Day 12—Fearlessness
Today’s Prayer Focus: To Love Fearlessly (1 John 4:18-19)
Prayer:
Dear God, thank you for being a God of perfect love. Thank you for loving me first—before I accepted your salvation, before I even knew you, while I was still living in sin. Teach me to love as you love, without fear or condemnation. Help me to offer grace to those around me, just as you first offered grace to me. Amen.
Series Theme Verse:
Romans 12:2
Don't copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God's will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
