Hurry is something we can relate to, but it's not the pace Jesus would have us use. Instead, he wants us to yoke ourselves with him and walk at his peaceful pace. He has given us the practice of Sabbath to allow for replenishment and provide us with time to invest in our relationships with him and others.
Reread Matthew 11:28-30 and consider what it is saying. Take time to also read Exodus 16:19 and Mark 2:27-28 to learn what is said about the Sabbath. Look back on the notes you captured over the past few days, and jot down any additional thoughts you may have.
Prayer:
Lord, I praise you for loving us so much you gave us the gift of Sabbath. Help me to step into this practice in order to grow closer to you. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Series Theme Verse:
Ephesians 3:16-17
16 I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. 17 Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong.
