Read Luke 14:25–28

Sunday, July 12, 2026

This weekend, the Daily will feature the same devotional content students are engaging with at High School Camp. The Daily Camps Experience invites our entire church to journey alongside them—following what they’re learning and creating space each day to connect personally with God.

Gratitude
Thank God for something meaningful in your life that required commitment and sacrifice.

Luke 14:28
“But don’t begin until you count the cost.”

Now, read Luke 14:25–28.

Jesus doesn’t hide what it means to follow Him. He doesn’t make it easier or more comfortable—He makes it clear. Following Him is a commitment, and real commitment always costs something.

That cost might look like letting go of comfort, changing the way you live, or not fitting in the same way you used to. It might cost you control, popularity, or even certain relationships.  And honestly, that’s where a lot of people stop. Because it’s easier to keep life the way it is than to follow Jesus when it gets uncomfortable.

But Jesus isn’t asking for part of your life—He’s asking for all of it. Not because He wants to take something from you, but because He knows where real life is actually found.

Following Jesus costs something—but not following Him costs something too. One leads to temporary comfort. The other leads to something deeper, something lasting.

Not just believing in Jesus, but deciding if He’s worth following when it actually impacts your life. Because commitment isn’t proven when it’s easy—it’s proven when it starts to cost you something.

And the truth is, you’re already paying a cost for something in your life. The question is whether what you’re giving your life to is actually worth it.

Question:
What is one thing following Jesus might cost you right now—and is it worth it to you?

Next Steps:
You can continue following along with the Student Camp Devotionals in the Parent Resources section on the CedarCreek App.

Starting Monday, July 13, as a church, we are reading the Gospel of Luke together this summer. To subscribe to a daily text reminder, text “LUKE” to 419-419-0707.

Prayer:
God, give me the courage to follow you even when it costs me something. Amen.
