New Testament Reading Plan: 1 Timothy 4

1 Thessalonians 5:24
God will make this happen, for he who calls you is faithful.

God promises to finish what he started in you. That means you don't have to be perfect; just be honest about where you are in your life and your spiritual journey.

As someone who's spent a lot of time trying to please everyone, even while buried deep in my sin and tangled in a Grand Canyon-sized web of lies to keep my sin hidden, I know how tempting it is to hide. Honesty can feel more like a threat than a relief, especially when we imagine bringing our beautiful and perfect Savior into our mess. But we were never meant to stay hidden in those places.

Healing begins when we stop hiding the cracks or pretending the canyon we're in doesn't exist, and start inviting God into those broken places, trusting him to do the deep work our hearts need to rise out of them.

There's incredible freedom in trusting that, even in our lowest, most broken moments, we are still enough for God. He isn't waiting for us to clean ourselves up - he just wants us to open the door.

Why? Because "the one who calls you is faithful, and he will do it" (1 Thessalonians 5:24 NIV). And "God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished" (Philippians 1:6).

The more confident you are in God's promise to complete the work, the more peace and joy you'll experience, even when you feel like you're not enough.

Questions:
What areas of your life do you need to stop hiding and start letting God in so he can begin working?

Next Steps:
Name the place in your life where you feel pressure to be perfect. Ask God to trade that pressure for peace today, and trust that he is still working.

If you need some uplifting inspiration to remind yourself that God is still at work in you, listen to Mandisa’s song, Unfinished.

Prayer:
Father God, thank you for being faithful. When I feel the pressure to be perfect, remind me that progress is enough. Please help me stop hiding my struggles and bring them to light so your healing can begin. Replace my striving with peace. Thank you for still working, shaping, and loving me through every step of the process. I love you, I trust you, and I worship you. In Jesus' name, amen.

Series Theme Verse:

2 Corinthians 1:20
For all of God’s promises have been fulfilled in Christ with a resounding “Yes!” And through Christ, our “Amen” (which means “Yes”) ascends to God for his glory.
