New Testament Reading Plan: 1 Timothy 6

Gone are the days of masks, toilet paper shortages, and surprisingly cheap gas prices. Call it terrifying, misguided, or necessary, but don’t get it twisted. 2020 was a year like no other in our lifetimes. Whether you discovered a love for sourdough or, like me, began crafting homemade sanitizer, you also sat around waiting for something to change.

What did you find while waiting? Uncertainty, boredom, anxiety, and powerlessness are a few things that come to mind.

The 2020 stay-at-home order forced me to face those emotions because there wasn’t an escape. I couldn’t navigate the rough seas alone and didn’t want to jump off the deep end without a lifejacket.

I made an impactful decision during the in-between times of the pandemic and isolation. I decided to trust God’s way rather than relying on myself.

And so I handed the compass to God, and he said, “Look at me. I’m the Captain now.” Okay, God didn’t say that, but there was an understanding that he would captain the ship away from the rocky shores. All I had to do was build trust by honoring his promises.

Each day started with prayer and family worship/devotion time. I researched, studied, and wrote nonstop while merging passion with purpose.

1 Corinthians 10:31
So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.

The shutdown ended, and the job search began. I waited, and then I waited some more. By the summer of 2021, two doors from separate international companies opened, and I began ghostwriting.

It’s not always easy to wait, but seasons like this remind us that trusting God means believing he’s at work even when we can’t see the results.

Psalm 27:14
Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord.

You must trust that God knows exactly what he is doing in your life. .

I’m sure you’re familiar with the song, “He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands.” It’s a reminder that God is in control of everything. But God requires your patience and faithfulness in his timeless work. After all, God’s timing is everything. That knowledge makes honoring God in the wait more welcoming.

Questions:
How long will you wait for God during seasons of uncertainty?

How do you honor God during that season?

Next Steps:
Live a life that shows faithfulness in God’s Word by studying Scripture, praising and worshiping in difficult times, and seeking spiritual guidance through mentorship and prayer.

Prayer:
Lord, I’m ready for my blessings if you know I am ready. However, teach me patience if I’m not quite ready. Guide my heart if I am lost. Be with me in my uncertainty and hold me up when I’m powerless. Give me the strength to grow like I never have before. Amen.

Series Theme Verse:

2 Corinthians 1:20
For all of God’s promises have been fulfilled in Christ with a resounding “Yes!” And through Christ, our “Amen” (which means “Yes”) ascends to God for his glory.
