Weekend Series: Re-Image Me

DreamTeam Writer: Lori Tuckerman

It’s sometimes easy to believe that because you follow Jesus, life will be safe.

But in all reality, it’s way more like an adventure.

Not the cute, curated kind, but the kind of adventure that is real, relatable, honest, and can take you to places only saying yes to him can take you.

CedarCreek Church exists to introduce people to Jesus and the life-changing adventure with him.

Are you on this adventure with us? If so, what does the adventure mean to you?

An adventure, by definition, is a bold undertaking. It involves unknown risks, and though there's beauty, there is also danger and uncertainty, and there could be moments when you wonder what you signed up for.

These kinds of adventures, the ones where you are continuously saying yes to God's invitation, are how we can move from survival to calling.

When we're just surviving, we play it safe. We manage our image. We try not to fail.

But we are God's masterpiece (Ephesians 2:10) and we’re recreated in Christ for the good things he planned for us long ago. That's not accidental living, it's intentional purpose.

2 Corinthians 5:17
This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!

So why don't we always live like it? Because adventure requires trust.

It means stepping into conversations you can’t control. Forgiving when it feels risky. Serving when it costs you something. Saying yes to growth that stretches you beyond what’s comfortable.

Following Jesus may take you places your survival instincts would never choose, but it will ask you to let go of who you were so you can become who you were always meant to be.

But here’s the beautiful part: you’re not forging the path alone. The One who designed your calling walks with you in it.

You were not recreated just to maintain. You were recreated to move, live fully, and love boldly.

Discussion Questions:
Ice Breaker: Share a time you took a risk that led to something better than you expected.

Where do you see people in our culture living in survival mode - image management, fear, control, or comfort - rather than calling?

Read Colossians 3:1-17: What stands out to you in this passage about identity and new life? Are we ignoring what it means to put on Christ?

Where are you most tempted to hold on to earthly things rather than putting on the new nature we’re offered by following Jesus?

Reflect and Respond: What would it look like this week to live from calling instead of survival?

Prayer:
Jesus, thank you for making me new. Forgive me for shrinking back into old patterns when you’ve called me forward. Give me the courage to step into the adventure you’ve prepared for me. Help me trust you with the risks, the unknowns, and the growth ahead. I don’t want to just survive, I want to live the life you designed for me. I love you, I trust you, and I worship you. Amen.

Series Theme Verse:
Colossians 3:10
Put on your new nature, and be renewed as you learn to know your Creator and become like him.
