Living a life of generosity can feel challenging for many reasons. Maybe you're often reminded that there isn't enough money, enough food, enough time, or enough of whatever you need. This way of living can cause us to hold tightly to what we have because we aren't sure when more will come.
When scarcity is all we can see, generosity can feel almost impossible. It's hard to give freely when we're constantly calculating what we might run out of. Fear tells us to hold on tighter, protect what we have, and make sure there's enough left for us.
But what if generosity begins when we stop calculating scarcity and start trusting God with what we already have?
That doesn't mean pretending we have more than we do. It means being honest about our limitations, acknowledging what's in our hands, and choosing to place it in God's.
Because when we surrender what we have to him, we make room for him to show us that our provision doesn't rest entirely on what we can see or control.
2 Corinthians 9:10-11
For God is the one who provides seed for the farmer and then bread to eat. In the same way, he will provide and increase your resources and then produce a great harvest of generosity in you.
Yes, you will be enriched in every way so that you can always be generous. And when we take your gifts to those who need them, they will thank God.
As we look ahead into this week, we'll explore what it looks like to live from a posture of generosity. Not because we have unlimited resources, but because we serve a God who is more than enough.
Generosity becomes possible when we stop calculating scarcity and start operating from surrender.
What might change if you approached this week with open hands?
