Acts 1:8
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere - in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

Jesus didn't give this command to a select few religious leaders; he said, "You." Ordinary men and women, fishermen and tax collectors, people with flaws and doubts. We are the ones he chose to carry his message to the world.

How do we do this? Jesus calls us to be witnesses and to point others to him through our words, our compassion, and our everyday faithfulness. Even though it seems easier to settle into routines of comfort that are safe and familiar, when we truly follow him, Jesus calls us out of complacency and into purpose.

Luckily for us, he sent his Holy Spirit to give us power for this very reason. With the help of the Holy Spirit, we can move from passive followers to active participants in God's rescue mission. Through every act of kindness and conversation of hope, we choose to step out in faith and point people to Jesus.

It's going to take a movement of ordinary people, fueled by extraordinary devotion, to reach a world in need. That movement starts with you. Your workplace, your home, and your friendships are your "Jerusalem." When you live out the invitation from God with courage and compassion, the message of Jesus moves to the ends of the earth.

Discussion Questions:

Ice Breaker: What's something you've been passionate or devoted to in your life (a hobby, cause, or goal)? What made you so committed to it?

How can we, as a church or small group, be more intentional about living out and sharing our faith in our community?

Read Acts 17:1–10: Paul and Silas faced hostility, yet their devotion to Jesus kept them moving forward. Are you devoted to world-changing action? What challenges or fears hold you back from living out your faith publicly?

When have you seen God use your obedience - even in a small way - to make an impact on someone?

Reflect and Respond: What is one step you can take this week to live out your faith more intentionally in your daily routine (home, work, school, or neighborhood)? Spend a moment praying for courage and opportunities to point someone to Jesus this week.

Prayer:
Lord, thank you for calling me to be your witness. Fill me with your Holy Spirit so I can boldly share love and truth with the people around me. Please help me to not grow comfortable or complacent; but to live with purpose and passion. Use my life to point others to you. In Jesus' name I pray, amen.
