Jeremiah 31:34
“And they will not need to teach their neighbors, nor will they need to teach their relatives, saying, ‘You should know the Lord.’ For everyone, from the least to the greatest, will know me already,” says the Lord. “And I will forgive their wickedness, and I will never again remember their sins.”

This verse opens one of the deepest truths of the gospel: who you were does not have to determine who you are.

We are all faced with a choice—whether to keep running from our past or trust that a new life could actually be right in front of us. Even when we don't feel deserving or even ready, we are all invited into something bigger than ourselves.

God doesn't just forgive us whenever and as often as we ask; he chooses not to hold our past against us.

He chooses not to define us by where we've been.

Instead, he chooses to see who you are becoming in and through him.

Discussion Questions:
Ice Breaker: Share a funny or memorable story from your past that you're thankful does not define who you are today.

What are some ways our community can better reflect God's heart by seeing people for who they can become in Christ rather than who they used to be?

Read 2 Corinthians 5:16-19: According to this passage, how does God view you differently than you often view yourself?

Where in your life is God inviting you to trust again? What would it look like to take one small step toward His grace instead of running from it?

Reflect and Respond: God "no longer counts our sins against us." Jeremiah 31:34. What would your week look like if you believed that about yourself—every day, in every moment?

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I’m continually thankful for the grace you so freely give me. You view me better than I could ever view myself and I am in awe of how much you love me. It is all more than I deserve. When I start to define myself by where I’ve been, instead of where I am, remind me that it is not my own definition I’m living by anymore…I know you see who I am becoming, not who I was. I love you, I trust you, and I worship you. Amen.

Series Theme Verse:

Romans 1:20
For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities - his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God.
