Bible in a Year: Psalms 54-56 | Acts 21

If you could have any superpower in the world, what would it be?

That question is one of my favorite icebreakers to start a meeting. Flying, invisibility, and the ability to stop time are often the first super powers that come to mind.

It's a fun question to ponder because, if I'm honest, it's easy to feel powerless in this life, and having supersonic speed to get through never-ending task lists could be really helpful.

When I’m doing things on my own, it can take everything in me to find the power to cope with bad news, control outcomes, or feel strong and confident enough to face whatever is coming next.

Living like we're constantly searching for power is draining, isn’t it?

In those moments, I'm incredibly thankful to be offered a better way to live!

When you accept Jesus into your heart, you are given a new power source. Saying yes to him and trusting him to help you through your days, hard moments, and whatever may be coming your way gives you the strength of invincibility.

This power source is not fueled by fear, comparison, or self-reliance; it is empowered by the Spirit of God.

Romans 8:6
So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace.

There is no greater power, no stronger source, no presence more faithful than his.

When we let go of our grip on the sinful nature our minds tend to lean on and allow the Spirit to lead, we tap into something unshakable that our own effort could never match. Trusting God with control doesn't mean weakness; it means plugging into the greatest strength available.

Tuck this truth in your heart: If you've said yes to Jesus, you already have instant access to more power than any superhero could ever dream of. All you have to do is tap into it!

Step up, ask God to show you your secret weapon, and launch into your day with the confidence that whatever comes your way, you're ready for it.

BAM! POW! Let’s go!

Questions:
Are you living from Jesus’ power or still trying to create your own?

When you imagine tapping into the power of God, what do you hope will change?

Next Steps:
Begin each morning with a simple prayer: “Holy Spirit, help me live from your power today.”

Wherever you are on your adventure with Jesus, you can take steps closer to God by digging deeper into Your Journey on the More tab of the CedarCreek app. Your Journey is a framework to help you learn, live, and share how Jesus invites us to follow him in every area of our lives. Start by taking the assessment to discover more.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, your power is the only one I need. Thank you for offering your Spirit to me freely and giving me the one true source of connection with you whenever I need it. Help me to continue letting go of my grip on any sinful nature hidden in my mind. I desire to follow your lead in my life. I love you, I trust you, and I worship you. Amen.

Series Theme Verse:

Colossians 3:10
Put on your new nature, and be renewed as you learn to know your Creator and become like him.
