Romans 13:14
Instead, clothe yourself with the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ. And don’t let yourself think about ways to indulge your evil desires.
So often, the deeper and long-term areas of our hearts make it easy to drift toward unhealthy desires. Left unchecked, those desires quietly shape our focus. But when we intentionally clothe ourselves in the presence of Jesus, something shifts. Our attention moves from what our flesh craves to what Jesus desires for us.
This isn’t a quick fix or a spiritual bandage meant to cover an infection. Keeping his presence close doesn’t just conceal our brokenness - it has a way of drawing it out. And when we’re willing to name what’s underneath, healing can begin. Old wounds are cleaned out, barriers are broken down, and restoration in our relationships with God and others becomes possible.
As you spend time reflecting today, what will you choose to focus on?
- Confession instead of guilt
- Forgiveness instead of anger
- Generosity instead of greed
- Gratitude and celebration instead of jealousy
- Submission instead of pride
Whatever you feel led to begin replacing, clothe yourself in his presence and let Jesus do the work only he can do.
Prayer:
God, I come before you seeking your guidance. Where are you inviting me to step out in faith today? Please reveal the places in my heart that need your attention, so I can begin the work of restoration and walk the path you have set for me. I love you, I trust you, and I worship you. Amen.
Series Theme Verse:
Hebrews 2:1
So we must listen very carefully to the truth we have heard, or we may drift away from it.
