Weekend Series: The Catch

DreamTeam Writer: Lori Tuckerman

Read Mark 15:46

Saturday, April 4, 2026

We’ve spent this week finalizing the chapters in the book of Mark—watching Jesus heal, pursue, challenge, and love with urgency and compassion. We’ve read accounts of followers saying yes to him in the moment, even when it’s messy or costly. And we’ve seen who he is: powerful, personal, and relentlessly committed to bringing people back to life spiritually and eternally.

Now, we arrive at Holy Saturday.

It's the in-between.

The day following the crucifixion, but before we celebrate the resurrection. The day when everything feels still, silent, and unfinished.

Mark 15:46
Joseph bought a long sheet of linen cloth. Then he took Jesus’ body down from the cross, wrapped it in the cloth, and laid it in a tomb that had been carved out of the rock. Then he rolled a stone in front of the entrance.

Jesus has been crucified. The miracle-working Messiah now lies in a tomb. The disciples, who once followed him with hope and certainty, are left with confusion, grief, and questions. Everything they thought they understood about him and their future seems buried.

Yet, this is not the end of the story.

This is the space between what was and what’s about to be.

If you’re honest, you may recognize that space. The tension of waiting. The uncertainty when God feels quiet. The moments when you’ve seen who Jesus is, but you’re still learning to trust what he’s doing.

Holy Saturday reminds us: God’s silence is never absence, and when hope feels buried, his work is not finished.

All week, we’ve been invited to not just see Jesus, but to say yes to him. To stop drinking from things that don’t satisfy and instead receive the living water (John 4:1-42), only he can give. To not only be filled—but to step into purpose.

And here, in the stillness, we hold both truths:
We need him to sustain us.
And we’re called to trust him, even when we don’t yet see the outcome.

Because resurrection is coming, hope is alive, and the story is still being written.

Today, don’t rush past the quiet. Instead, sit in it and spend time reflecting on who Jesus has shown himself to be through Mark, letting it deepen your trust.

And as you look toward Easter, remember this:

The same Jesus who met people in their thirst…
The same Jesus who called them into purpose…
Is the same Jesus who walked out of the grave!

LivingItOut:

Where have I felt spiritually “thirsty” this week?

What would it look like for me to come into Easter expectant instead of routine?

Be still before you celebrate. Take a few quiet minutes today to sit with Jesus—no agenda, just awareness of his presence.

Re-center your focus. Choose one small, practical way to stay connected to him daily (Scripture, prayer, worship).

Lean into purpose. Ask God where he’s inviting you to step out, encourage someone, serve, or share your story.

Prayer:
Jesus, in the quiet of today, help me slow down and remember who you are. Thank you for seeing every place I've been searching for satisfaction, and still inviting me to come to you for the living water I truly need to be satisfied. Forgive me for the times I’ve chased things that could never truly fill me. I’m looking toward Easter with fresh hope in your love for all of us. I know that you are not finished, and neither is the purpose you have for me. I love you, I trust you, and I worship you. Amen.
