Weekend Series: Losing My Religion

DreamTeam Writer: Kelly Pagel

Saturday, May 4, 2024

This past week, we looked at the responses of two very different men as they approached God at the temple. The tax collector confessed his sin, humbling himself before God, while the Pharisee, unfortunately and pridefully, only looked at his outward behavior and not his heart.

Have you ever been like the Pharisee? It's easy to do, but we are reminded in Luke 18:14, that it is humility God wants.

Today, I invite you to carve out a few quiet moments to reread the verses that really spoke to you this week. Reread the story in Luke 18:9-14 or be reminded of the truth in Romans 8:1 or 1 Samuel 16:7. Spend time with God, confessing with humility and rejoicing in his immense love for us even though we fall short.

Then look back on any notes you may have captured over the past few days and reflect on the actions you took this week.

Prayer:
Father, thank you for your gracious love. Grant me the humility to see myself correctly and to love others the way you love them. Amen.

Series Theme Verse:
Romans 6:14
Sin is no longer your master, for you no longer live under the requirements of the law. Instead, you live under the freedom of God’s grace.
