Over the past few weeks, we've walked alongside Jesus through the pages of Luke. We listened to his parables, watched him heal, wrestled with his challenging teachings, and stood at the foot of the cross before celebrating the empty tomb.

But if we've only gained more information, we've missed the invitation.

The purpose of Scripture isn't simply to fill our minds. The purpose is to lead us to knowing God more and allowing him to transform our hearts.

That's exactly what happened to Jesus' first followers. They heard his teaching, watched miracles, and still misunderstood who he was. We can learn through the details they and others like Luke recorded in the Gospels that it wasn't until they encountered the risen Christ that everything began to make sense. Looking back, they saw that every conversation, miracle, and difficult teaching had been revealing God's heart all along.

Maybe that's true for us, too.

There are probably still passages in Luke that leave you with questions.

Maybe some challenged your assumptions or asked more of you than you expected.

That's okay.

As this reading plan comes to an end, remember, the journey doesn't stop here. Keep seeking to understand who Jesus is and let that curiosity guide you.

As you reflect today, consider revisiting some of the frameworks for studying the Bible. You might rewatch a message from the series Bible for Grown-Ups, or explore “How to Study the Bible” resources online or in the CedarCreek App. Find an approach that resonates with you, and keep engaging with Scripture.

The more we pursue understanding, the more God’s Word shapes not just what we believe, but who we become.

Luke 24:51-53
While he was blessing them, he left them and was taken up to heaven. So they worshiped him and then returned to Jerusalem filled with great joy. And they spent all of their time in the Temple, praising God.

Luke ends with the disciples worshiping Jesus before returning to Jerusalem filled with great joy. They weren't the same people who had first left their fishing nets to follow him. (Luke 5:11) They had encountered the risen Savior, and that encounter changed everything.

That's the invitation for us as well.

Not simply to finish reading, but to keep reading and keep reflecting on what matters—letting those insights challenge us, renew our perspective, and shape who we become over time.

Prayer:
Jesus, thank you for walking with me through the pages of Luke. Open my eyes to see you more clearly, and give me a heart that stays curious and open to your prompting. As I continue this journey, let your Word shape my beliefs, my actions, and who I am becoming. Help me to pursue understanding and to trust you, even when I have questions. I love you, I trust you, and I worship you. Amen.
