It seems counterintuitive, but peace comes when we stop demanding our own way.
Matthew 16:24-26
24 Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross, and follow me. 25 If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it. 26 And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul? Is anything worth more than your soul?”
Today, reflect on the verses above, on Acts 5:40-42, or any of the other Scripture verses from this week, as we are called to follow Christ’s teachings. Spend time carefully exploring each word, listening to what God wants to teach you.
Review the notes you captured over the past few days, and jot down any additional thoughts you may have.
Prayer:
Lord, thank you for the reminder that I must give up my own will and surrender and submit to yours. It is not easy, Father, but it will offer me true freedom that cannot be compared to anything else. Help me to trust you more and follow you each day. Amen.
Series Theme Verse:
John 16:33
"I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.”
