Over the last few weeks, we’ve looked at how words have power.
We’ve seen examples of how unhelpful and unhealthful words can cause damage to our hearts.
Learning about our temperaments, or how God wired us, and understanding the importance of the often-overlooked role they play in our words can help us build stronger relationships with the people around us.
Jesus has invited us to share grace with others and bless them with our words. If we follow his example and learn from teachings like those found in the series verse, Ephesians 4:29, or Galatians 6:5-8 and Matthew 5:23, we are shown a better way to communicate with our loved ones.
I invite you to spend time today reflecting on what you learned about temperaments: What do you need God to say to you? What do you need to say to someone?
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank you for giving me practical ways to see how my temperament impacts my heart. Allow me to take this new knowledge and understanding into my relationships with others—living by your example, loving them with genuine affection, and using words that will be an encouragement to those who hear them. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Series Theme Verse:
Ephesians 4:29
Don’t use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them.
