Last weekend's message, week 2 of the series Angry Jesus, looked at Mark 1:40-42 when Jesus healed a man with leprosy. Ben discussed how looking at the different translations of the Bible and how different versions translated the words could mean that Jesus was filled with anger and compassion at the same time.
If you're following along with the current reading plan, this week, we read chapters 11-15 of the gospel of Matthew. Through these chapters, we've heard parables taught by Jesus and have seen how he acted and reacted to his followers, people who came to him for healing, and how he addressed the different scenarios around him.
Today, I invite you to reflect on what you've learned about Jesus through these teachings. If there are verses that stood out to you, revisit them. Look at ways Jesus offered us hope and strength in the trials of this world and ask him to show you where you may need to lean into his love to see your way through whatever you're trying to carry on your own.
Prayer:
Dear Jesus, thank you for your kindness and compassion. Just like you healed the man with leprosy, I know you see me, love me, and have the power to restore what is breaking my heart. Please help me trust you and share your goodness with others. May my life reflect the joy of knowing you! In your name, I pray, amen.
Series Theme Verse:
Hebrews 4:15
This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for he faced all of the same testings we do, yet he did not sin.
