Do you have a secret? Is there something that is important to you, but that you hesitate to share?

While this might seem to be the easy way out, it is really difficult to build trust and develop meaningful relationships when we are hiding parts of our life.

In order to live the life God intended and experience true freedom, you must start by confessing your sins to God and seeing yourself as he does. We need to be honest with the Lord and with others. Then we can step into the full purpose he plans for us.

1 John 1:9
But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.

Today, consider the voices you are listening to. Then respond to the following questions and reflect on how you can take steps toward freedom.

Discussion Questions:

  • Are you good at keeping secrets?
  • Why is it tempting for people to keep secrets?
  • Read Ephesians 2:10 and 1 John 1:9. What do you learn about God and his love for us?
  • Do you let someone else have more authority in your life than God? Why do you think that is?
  • What is one step you can take to believing what God says about you?

Prayer:
Lord, it is so easy to fake it, rather than face it. But I am your workmanship! Help me to humble myself before you and live from who you say I am. Remind me of the truth of your forgiveness and love, and help me surround myself with friends I can be honest with. Let me step into my purpose and show others the peace, joy, and love you offer. Amen.

Series Theme Verse:

Romans 1:20
For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God.
