Today, we are going to take some time to listen to what God is calling us to. Read through the instructions first and then begin, so you don’t have to keep looking at what to do next.
Find a quiet space and set aside any distractions. Then set a 5 minute timer on your phone. Close your eyes and take some slow deep breaths.
Invite God to speak to you. You can use whatever words are natural, but if you need an idea, you can softly and slowly repeat:
Lord, what are you calling me to today? Is there something I should know?
Then reflect on your quiet time with God and jot down some notes.
- What is God calling me to boldly move forward in?
- What would it look like if I moved forward in God’s calling for my life?
- What excites me about this calling?
- What am I nervous about?
- What is one step I can take on this journey in the next few days?
Although this may be a big, hairy, audacious goal, be encouraged—you are not on this adventure alone. Just as Jesus reminded his disciples after commissioning them to spread the Gospel, he also encourages us with his words.
Matthew 28:20b
“And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
Prayer:
Lord, you call me to step out in faith and trust your plan for my life. Give me the confidence, and help me be willing to make mistakes. When I do, help me get up and start again. Help me remember it's not about perfection, but progress. Let my life bring you glory. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Series Theme Verse:
Romans 1:20
For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God.
