Luke 6:39-40
Then Jesus gave the following illustration: “Can one blind person lead another? Won’t they both fall into a ditch? Students are not greater than their teacher. But the student who is fully trained will become like the teacher.”

The importance of shutting out the things we hear in this world and focusing on the truth and wisdom that Jesus offers is invaluable. Being fully trained by the greatest Teacher of all time can change not only the way we live our lives but also the strength and beauty in our relationships.

Every person is shaped by who or what they choose to follow. Jesus makes it clear in this passage. If we're following the wrong guide, we'll eventually end up in the wrong place. However, if we choose to learn from him, we'll be shaped into his likeness.

The goal of discipleship isn't simply knowing what Jesus said; it's becoming more like him in how we live, love, and lead. A student who spends time with their teacher naturally begins to take on their teacher’s ways of thinking, speaking, and doing. The same is true in our relationship with Jesus. The more we learn from him, the more we reflect his character to the world.

It's so important to guard the voices we allow to influence us. Culture, opinions, and even well-meaning people can mislead us if they're not grounded in truth. But Jesus, our perfect Teacher, never misleads. His words are life, his way is trustworthy, and his example shows us how to walk with love, humility, and purpose.

Reflect on the invitation Jesus offers, and sit at his feet today. Read his words, watch how he shows love, and as you learn what he is telling you, follow his lead.

When we choose to follow him, we won't just learn more about him; we'll become more like him.

Prayer:
Father God, you are the greatest Teacher I could ever hope for. I’m forever grateful for your wisdom and guidance. I know my days are made better when I follow your lead. I come to you, humbly asking you to straighten out my thinking when I start to feel like my learned experiences are better than the example you’ve set for me. I love you, I trust you, and I worship you. Amen.

Series Theme Verse:

Romans 12:17-18
Never pay back evil with more evil. Do things in such a way that everyone can see you are honorable. Do all that you can to live in peace with everyone.
