New Testament Reading Plan: Leviticus 16-18 | 1 Corinthians 6
Some mornings, we wake up already carrying the weight of the day.
Our minds race through to-do lists, responsibilities, expectations, and the quiet pressure to “be enough.” We often believe we have to earn our worth through productivity, good choices, or even spiritual disciplines. However, God invites us to begin somewhere entirely different.
He invites us to begin with grace.
Before you check a single task off your list, before you open your Bible, serve someone else, or try to be the best version of yourself, God has already declared something true: you are deeply loved. His love for you isn’t based on what you’ll accomplish today. It isn’t dependent on how perfectly you perform or how much you can offer him. It rests completely on who he is.
Ephesians 2:8
God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God.
Grace is exactly that: a gift. We didn’t earn our salvation, and we don’t have to earn God’s affection today. His forgiveness, acceptance, and love are freely given because of what Jesus has already accomplished on the cross.
It’s easy to slip into a mindset of “If I pray enough, serve enough, or do enough, then God will be pleased with me.” The gospel tells a different story. God was pleased to rescue us long before we could ever repay him. Our obedience doesn’t create his love - it flows from it.
What if today you chose to receive before you achieve?
Take a deep breath. Sit in his presence for a moment. Let your heart remember that you don’t have to prove yourself. You don’t have to fight for a place at his table. Through Christ, you’ve already been welcomed in.
As you move through your day, let your work, kindness, worship, and service become a response to God’s grace instead of an attempt to earn it. Start from a place of rest, not pressure. Begin with gratitude instead of striving.
Today, receive the connection, the grace, and his love. Let everything you do flow from the beautiful truth that before you did anything for God, he had already done everything for you. His mercies are new every morning, offering a fresh beginning where his love speaks louder than our failures, fears, and unfinished to-do lists.
Questions:
What pressures are yhttps://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Ephesians%202%3A1-10&version=NLTou carrying that God never asked you to?
How would your relationship with God change if you truly believed his grace is enough?
In what areas of your life are you relying more on your performance than on God’s grace?
Next Steps:
Begin tomorrow with five minutes of stillness before reaching for your phone or your to-do list. Simply thank God for his grace.
Read Ephesians 2:1-10, and underline every phrase that reminds you salvation is God’s work, not yours.
21 Days of Prayer | Today’s Focus: For Our Cities
Prayer:
Dear God, today, we lift up each city in northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan - and I pray specifically for [name of your city]. May they be places of peace, justice, and righteousness. We come to you asking to see lives healed, people drawn to Christ, and your Spirit poured out in our communities. Lord, protect the innocent, comfort the grieving, and restore the broken. We humble ourselves before you, God. We seek your face. Help us turn from anything that draws us away from you. We believe you will heal families, our communities, and people's hearts. Lord, give us the wisdom necessary to unite us and lead us in the days ahead so that our city can be a light to our nation, a testament to you, the only one who saves. We pray this in Jesus' name, amen.
