Weekend Series: Advent 2023

DreamTeam Writer: Kelly Pagel

Sunday, December 10, 2023

Today, I encourage you to pause and consider this idea of God being our source of joy. During the holiday season we can get caught up in the “magic” of Christmas and miss the miracle.

Begin by taking a few moments to sit quietly. Set aside all distractions, close your eyes, and take a few slow, deep breaths. With each exhalation, give God your worries and concerns and allow his peace wash over you.

Next, take some time to slowly read through Isaiah 9:2 and Psalm Luke 2:8-11. Savor the words and consider the gift God gave us through his son Jesus

What do you learn about Jesus in these verses? What does this mean for you?

Finally, consider recording your responses in a journal, whether digital or hardcopy. It's a great way to be able to look back on the adventure God has you on.

Prayer:
Lord, thank you for sending your son, Jesus. What good news of great joy! I am not worthy, yet you loved me so much. This Christmas season, Father, help me focus on the miracle of Jesus. It's so easy to get distracted, but instead, help me focus on the gift of your Son and the hope he offers. In Jesus’ name, amen.

You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
