New Testament Reading Plan: Colossians 4

Philippians 4:13 NKJV
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

Do you think of yourself as being unstoppable?

Even if you don’t have a significant or noticeable handicap, like Anthony from this week’s featured movie Unstoppable, the greatest opponent to our unstoppability may be the person we see every day in the mirror.

In my life, I know that when I take my eyes off Jesus and begin to worry about how I look, who I’m with, or what I’m going to do next, I lose the balance that comes from walking in step with him. When my focus shifts to me, I lose perspective. Since I’m not physically falling over - or at least not most of the time - it’s easy to disregard the warning signs that appear when I get off-kilter. I can’t see what’s really going on in my life with any clarity.

It is only when I shift my focus back to Jesus that I have the power to run my race with endurance. Jesus is my champion. He is the initiator and perfector of my life. And he wants to be that for you, too, when you make him your Lord and Savior (Hebrews 12:1-2).

Our Lord Jesus has done so much for us! He entered the world as a human, lived a life of compassion, and ultimately took the weight of our sin at the cross. From the agony of his sacrifice to his glorious resurrection, we have so much to be grateful for. We can confidently face life’s challenges with hope and faith in his powerful presence because the same strength that sustained Jesus to complete his work on earth is available to us by the indwelling of his Spirit.

How incredible is that?! This is why we can say with certainty that regardless of our circumstances - good, bad, or just frustrating - we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us (Philippians 4:12-13).

We can only be truly unstoppable when we walk with Christ. When our freedom, endurance, and purpose flow from his strength, we can withstand every challenge and keep moving forward with confidence, knowing Christ is by our side. With him, there truly is nothing we can’t do for his glory!

Questions:
Who do you see in the mirror? Is that person unstoppable through the strength and power of Jesus Christ?

Next steps:
Find a friend or group of friends who will tell you the truth about your life. Listen to them, search the Scriptures, and trust the Holy Spirit as he leads your life.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank you for telling me who I am. I am your dearly loved child, and I live in your unshakeable kingdom. Please let that knowledge penetrate to the very depths of my heart, and let me live out of that knowledge. Help me become the person you created me to be, and fulfill the purpose for which you created me. Let it all be for your glory! You are worthy of all glory, honor, and praise! Amen.

Series Theme Verse:

Romans 1:20
For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities - his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God.
