Weekend Series: The Most Disappointing Series Ever

DreamTeam Writer: Kelly Pagel

Sunday, October 13, 2024

Can you remember the last time you thought something would make you happy, but it didn’t really deliver?

The world tells us that things will make us happy, but the reality is that true satisfaction is only found in Christ.

Today, spend time reflecting on the following questions, what Jesus teaches us about disappointment, and how he calls us to respond.

Discussion Questions:

  • Icebreaker: Share a time you were disappointed after you bought something you wanted.
  • What things do people tend to hold on to tightly, thinking they will bring meaning to their lives?
  • Read Mark 10:17-23. What does it say about disappointment? What do you learn about Jesus?
  • What material things are you holding on to the tightest? Can they provide the satisfaction you truly desire?
  • What is one thing you can do to place Jesus at the center of your life?

Prayer:
Lord, it is so tempting to think that things can bring me peace and joy. But that is something only you can truly provide. Today, Lord, help me cling tightly to you instead. Draw me close to you, Father, and help me fix my eyes on Jesus. In his name I pray, amen.

Series Theme Verse:
John 16:33
"I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.”
