Psalm 139:13-14
You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body
and knit me together in my mother’s womb.
Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex!
Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it.
Before you ever took your first breath, God intentionally crafted every part of who you are. He didn't mass-produce you. He knit you together—carefully, lovingly, purposefully. His workmanship didn't stop at your physical form. You were masterfully designed to have your personality, wiring, strengths, and even the experiences that would shape you. You were made marvelously, not accidentally.
During the Christmas season, we often focus on the gifts we buy or give, but Scripture reminds us of a deeper truth: God made you to be a gift to your family, friends, church, and this world. You carry something no one else carries. You reflect a piece of God's heart that no one else can reflect. This special wiring allows you to bring a presence, kindness, voice, insight, or compassion that God himself uniquely crafted.
This season, as busyness pulls you in every direction and you start to lose sight of your worth, pause and remember: the God who sent his Son as the greatest gift of all time also sent you into this world with intention. He shaped you to bring his love, hope, and encouragement in ways only you can.
So, as we look ahead into this week, take time to be intentional and ask him: "Lord, how can I be a gift to someone this Christmas?"
Then pause and listen for God's response.
Maybe in these quiet moments with God, you'll be asked to offer forgiveness. Or you'll hear an invitation to give time, listen deeply, serve quietly, or speak courage to someone who feels forgotten.
Whatever direction God leads you, don't forget that you are marvelous, and he wants to use the way he made you to bless someone else today.
Discussion Questions:
Ice Breaker: What's something you're good at that you didn't fully appreciate until someone pointed it out?
What fears or comparisons could hold people back from stepping into their place in the church?
Read Psalm 139:13–14: What does "fearfully and wonderfully made" mean to you personally? What aspect of how God designed you have you been hesitant to see as meaningful or important?
How does seeing yourself as part of God’s ongoing story in our church affect your sense of purpose and involvement?
Reflect and Respond: What comparison do you need to stop making, and how is God inviting you to trust Him with it?
Prayer:
Lord, how can I be a gift to someone this Christmas? My answer is yes! I love you, I trust you, and I worship you. Amen.
Series Theme Verse:
Acts 20:35
And I have been a constant example of how you can help those in need by working hard. You should remember the words of the Lord Jesus: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”
