Weekend Series: FOR

DreamTeam Writer: Lori Tuckerman

Saturday, September 5, 2026

As followers of Jesus, we’re called to live lives that make a difference. This calling isn’t just for special moments - it’s for every day - right where we are.

Matthew 5:14-16
“You are the light of the world - like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.”

The best way to move forward is with open hands and open hearts, ready to let our light shine as Jesus describes.

Your yes to your city might look like serving, sharing your story with a neighbor, or simply choosing to pray for someone in a political office you wouldn't normally pray for. Each of these is a way to let your good deeds shine out for all to see, just as Jesus calls us to do.

Whatever it is, we can be confident that God is inviting us into something greater than ourselves. He invites us all into a life that points others to his love and brings praise to our heavenly Father.

As we reflect this week, let’s keep our eyes open to the needs around us and our hearts attentive to how the Lord might be inviting us to step in and shine his light in our cities.

Let’s be ready to respond with a wholehearted yes to wherever we are directed, shining our light before others and joining God’s unfolding story, so that everyone will praise our heavenly Father (Matthew 5:16; 22:37).

Prayer:
Lord, open my eyes to the needs around me and give me the courage to shine your light wherever you lead. Help me say “yes” to your invitation to be for my community, and let my life bring praise to you. I love you, I trust you, and I worship you. Amen.

Series Theme Verse:

John 13:35
“Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.”
